Ceramic tiles are not easy to keep clean. Dirt settles in the porous surface and layers of grime builds up over time. But it doesn’t have to be this way! With just a little effort, you can restore your ceramic tile flooring back to its original luster with these simple steps:
How To Clean Ceramic Tiles:
1) Remove all furniture from the area, including mats and rugs. It's also best if you use rubber gloves when cleaning so that oils on your hands don't leave marks behind on the floor.
2) Mix warm water with dish soap or other gentle cleaner (like Tilex).
3) Wipe down all surfaces using a clean cloth soaked in the mixture until dirty areas begin to show through again.
4) Mix baking soda with water to make a paste. Apply the paste onto any stubborn stains and let it sit for 15 minutes before wiping away with a damp cloth (you may need to repeat this step several times).
5) Rinse thoroughly to remove all residues of the cleaning solution so it doesn’t dry on your ceramic tile flooring or leave spots behind after you have finished mopping.
Note: You can also add vinegar or hydrogen peroxide into your mixture if you find that there is still dirt left after the first pass.
1) Mop the grout with a solution of one cup vinegar to two cups water.
2) Let it sit for about 20 minutes before scrubbing the area with an old toothbrush or natural bristle brush dipped in baking soda paste.
3) Rinse thoroughly and let your tiles dry fully overnight. Be sure not to use any harsh chemicals because they can damage your grout.
How To Clean Tiles With Stains?
1) Apply a paste of baking soda and vinegar to the stained area with an old toothbrush or natural bristle brush.
2) Allow it to sit for 20 minutes before scrubbing again until the stains disappear completely. Rinse and let your tiles dry fully.
3) Some stubborn stains may require a second application and scrubbing with clean water, baking soda paste or club soda before rinsing and drying the tile surface again.
